I just saw a deer on the trolley tracks in Brookline Village! I was on a bridge over the D line tracks when I saw a freaked-out deer (a doe) running across the tracks right in front of a trolley. The train stopped but the deer was still running around all crazy (there are trees and chain-link fence on either side of the tracks on this part of the D line, so she was basically trapped on the tracks, with only a few feet on either side). I wish her well, but I suspect she is not going to make it back out of Brookline under her own power. It was kind of cool to see the deer, but she was so obviously in distress it was also pretty sad.

I've gotten used to the turkeys, but a deer was a surprise!

Oh deer...

I just wrote on your wall at Facebook, but it's good to hear the rest of the story.

Deer show up in unusual urban places, but I think they're pretty resilient too.

Re: Oh deer...

Yeah, she just looked very freaked out. And she was heading further downtown rather than back out towards Newton and things.

Dude, wow. I hope she escaped.I've seen possums and raccoons here, and coyotes often turn up around LA, but never deer!

I know! I mean, it wasn't like in the middle of the city or anything, but she was a long ways for the woods.
